Why do blogs outperform brochure sites?
It’s really simple SEO math…
this is why blogs outperform brochures and business directories outperform blogs…
If I have a website with 50+ keyword anchor links (called tags in most CMS platforms) scattered throughout the site, and a tag cloud widget, or module, then yes it is simple math.
A brochure site will typically only have 5-10 static pages. You can only search optimize those pages with your keywords so much before it starts looking tacky.
By contrast, if you simply add a blog, then you’re creating a strategic keyword/keyphrase focus within your market.
By sharing your knowledge with your prospects in the form of blog posts, you can increase your focused keyword and anchor link saturation which will improve your search rank.
Isn’t that simple?
Where to start…
Define 5-15 focused keywords or keyphrases that you want your website found for.
What are you selling? Use the keyword suggestion tools on google’s adwords or others around the internet that can help find keywords that you may not have thought of.
Make sure that your article topics and categories are focused around those keywords.
Add the keywords that are relevant to the article into your tags.
The more articles you post about your industry, the more keyword anchor links (tags) you will have spread around your site.
This makes it easier for the search engine to spider your content and this alone will give you an advantage over competitors that don’t blog on their websites.
