3 Simple ways to help protect your WordPress website from hackers.
Security is ALWAYS a priority on the internet so here are 3 tips for keeping your WordPress site safe from attackers.
As developers, we hear the story a lot. “My website got HACKED! What do I do?” Unfortunately, getting things back in order can take time & every business owner knows that time = $$$.
Every techie will tell you that it’s better to be proactive & preventative rather than being forced to react to a problem in a rush.
Following these simple steps can go a long way to prevent a lot of headaches in the future.
- Run your updates! Software updates have a purpose and usually it’s for security patches. Make sure your software is up to date. Very important!
- Change your password at least once in a while. Since all the studies say ‘password’ & ‘1234’ are the top passwords, it might be wise to make it a little more complicated than that.
- Install a security plugin like WordFence. Plugins like this will limit failed login attempts, block repeat offenders & can be set to email the admin if it sees anything suspicious.
(Note: All sites we build get WordFence installed)
Taking these simple precautions can seriously help you save money in the long run.
